Avere in the present tense

Avere al presente

Grammar explained

More than to have

Avere expresses possession, age and several physical feelings. Italian uses have where English often uses be: ho fame (I am hungry), ho freddo (I am cold).
Grammar explained

Six forms

io ho; tu hai; lui/lei ha; noi abbiamo; voi avete; loro hanno.
The h in ho, hai, ha and hanno is silent but must be written. Do not confuse ho with o (or), or ha with the preposition a.
